Drug Rehab Programs Don't Work- Here's What Does
The reason why numerous drug rehab programs dont work is because of their improper curriculum. A chemically addicted persons cells are subtonically permeated with the DNA of every drug theyve taken. They are wholly addicted: mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
All people has a physical self and the ego self (which consists of the emotional, spiritual, and mental). Beginning at birth theres a never-ending conflict between the flesh and its desires. People who have a weak ego have less self-control. Its very easy for them to give into the addictions of the flesh. They often spend their whole life running after their addictions and end up sucked into the pit of despair. They remain captive and worship the chemical of their choice.
To be able to break away from the chains forged one at a time by their bad decisions, requires that light and hope enter the ego self. Escaping this prison requires outside help. If the ego remains weak, lost, confused and deceived, they will never achieve sobriety.
Desire and self-awareness are the 1st steps toward sobriety. Denial and pride are gigantic barriers that restrain the addicted from escaping their chains. Humility, a willingness to abstain and emerge out of secrecy takes gut wrenching power that some addicts cannot muster, especially by themselves.
Cognitive restructuring is the most successful method that can be used to help addicts break off their chains and gain their freedom. Cognitive restructuring can help the addicted conquer their faulty thinking and self destructive behaviors. If this primary step is not taken, complete success will never be achieved.
